"What's it doing? Don't touch it!" A third woman says. She sounds panicked. She should be. When I figure out how to get out of this damn thing, they're all as good as dead. How dare they. How fucking dare they.

Let me out. Now. Let me out!

As if the green cocoon listened to me, it slowly dissolves and seeps back into my body. Raw magick. That was my raw magick.

I fall maybe a foot to the floor and compose myself. This is the charred remains of Priscilla's office at the coven headquarters. On the floor around me, there are strange runes drawn in a circular formation in white and green chalk. The walls are nothing more than cracked wood and burnt wallpaper. The chandelier is hanging on by a thread. All of its crystals look to have exploded from either the heat or the magick intake. Every inch of this space is desolate. Charred. Ruined. And I did that, but they deserved it.

"Impossible!" Priscilla exclaims, and she backs up against the wall. I step out of the chalk circle and glare at her. I flick my wrist at what's left of the armchair and it crashes into the wall by Maude, splintering into a thousand tiny pieces. The color drains from her face.

"I don't understand. We did everything right!" Maude exclaims. Father's secretary. I never liked the old bitch. This just further cements it. She inches away from the rubble and toward the door.
